This is my personal photographic portrait of Venice, my city.
I grew up scuffing my shoes while playing soccer and riding bicycles in the streets, or rowing with friends in the quiet waters of Venice’s famous Lagoon.
My father was the the director of Venice’s Office of Tourism. He was referred to affectionately as the city’s “Last Doge,” the Venetian equivalent of a duke. As a result, I was lucky enough to have unusual insider access to the city’s culture, politics and traditions.
While creating this book, I found that my birth city has changed only on the surface. Despite more tourists, more merchandise, more hustle and more flooding, Venice is still a timeless and captivating place.
